St. Francis of Assisi was the founder of a religious community to
include specifically a provision for sending his Brothers on a
mission in the Rule of Life which he gave to his community.
For
nearly 800 years, the Franciscan Friars have sought to bring the
Good News of the Gospel to those who have not heard it, and to stand
in solidarity with the poor and marginalized of the world.
The
Franciscan Friars have been a part of St. Aloysius Parish for over
fourteen years. The first Franciscan pastor of our parish was Fr.
Dan Haveron. Fr. Mark Soehner became pastor in 1995 after spending
time as our Associate Pastor. Fr. Mark celebrated his last Mass with
us on January 6, 2008 as he has been reassigned to Chicago and Fr.
Tod has become our new pastor.
Living
near to St. Aloysius is a community of Friars that include Fr. Tod Laverty, Fr. Alex Kratz, Brother Al Mascia
and Brother Michael Radomski.
A Franciscan Prayer:
Almighty God, in every age you
have chosen servants to proclaim you Word to the ends of the earth.
Hear our prayer for our Franciscan
Missionaries who serve your church throughout the world.
Fill them with your Spirit that
they may have deep faith and courage to serve those in need.
Amen. |
